Our Community
Our members come to Quantum CrossFit for many different reasons. Some want to lose weight, others want to gain muscle, some want to excel in their sport, and others want to build back their health and strength after an illness or injury. At the same time, they are all here for one reason: to work hard and improve. Whatever the reason that brings them in our door, it’s the amazing results they experience and the unbelievably supportive community that makes them stay. The training atmosphere at Quantum CrossFit is analogous to training with a team. Everyone is here to help and push you beyond your perceived limits.
Each and every one of our members has an amazing story. They make us proud every day with their dedication and accomplishments. We thank them all for that!
Theresa: Theresa’s Road to 50 Years Young
Theresa aka T-bird
I first started at Crossfit Quantum in March of 2010. I came in with chronic knee and shoulder problems, and was 40 lbs overweight. These combined, required almost every workout to be modified for me. Through the regular schedule of ancillary work, the excellent coaching, weight lifting and met cons, I learned proper form and developed enough flexibility to squat and do overhead work. I took part in the Spring Leaning Nutrition Challenge and lost a ton of weight. I now practice a paleo lifestyle and have dropped from size 18 to 12, and am basking in the constant compliments I am receiving about how good I look. I am now lifting weights that I never imagined being able to, and am consistently rising to the unmodified met con challenges.
There is so much to be gained from the Quantum community, I love the structure of the program and the fantastic group that I work out with. All of the coaches are so very knowledgeable, encouraging and safe. I feel amazing and cannot say enough about Crossfit Quantum.
I encourage any one and everyone to give yourself the gift of fitness. No matter where you start, Crossfit Quantum can get you on your way! I just celebrated my 50th birthday and am in the best condition of my life. Coming from 15 years of wasted gym memberships to a fit, trim, strong, happy person just feels fantastic.
Jason: Playing for Team Crossfit
Jason S
Prior to jumping into the world of CrossFit back in May of this year, I knew very little about it. A couple friends had experienced it themselves and wouldn’t shut up about it. I have to admit, I’d never seen them in better shape in all the years I’ve known them – so I listened. The things that caught my attention most were that it was intense, and if you could get 3 workouts in each week, you’d be in great condition in no time. I was skeptical. Then they said there hadn’t been a day they went past an hour in their crossfit gym. I thought back to all the years and all the hours I had spent in my globo gym – I couldn’t believe it. But the results didn’t lie. These were guys who had done as I had over the years, and found something that could provide them with better results in less time. Sound like an infomercial yet? It did to me.
I’ve always been a relatively athletic guy through life, but hit a few speed bumps over the last few years. A full knee reconstruction and fully torn achilles on separate occasions scared me off of my first love – basketball. I was left with my Globo gym, where the injuries continued as my strength progressed. And the setbacks always seemed to keep me from getting into the best shape of my life as I had hoped to. I also missed the camaraderie and competition that I grew accustomed to in sports.
Enter CrossFit.
When I showed up at CrossFit Quantum for my first workout I couldn’t do a pullup or a chinup (nowhere even close actually!) I had lost all definition from a physical standpoint and wanted it back. I wanted to feel strong, I wanted to look it, and I wanted to feel strong, I wanted to look it, and I wanted to be injury free. I had also registered for my very first triathlon (a lifelong goal) which was 5′ish weeks away…Yikes!
Suffice to say, there was no sugar-coating the fact that I would push myself. Along the way I picked up some phenomenal nutritional tips that have magnified my progress.
I finished that triathlon with minimal sport specific training, relying almost exclusively on CrossFit and the occasional CrossFit Endurance workout. I even came out of the swim with a top 5 time in my group!
Today, I’m happy to now be competing with a great group of CrossFitters at every workout. My strength is through the roof compared to where I had started. I can now say I’m as lean or leaner than I’ve ever been and I’m only 16weeks into it! Hitting new Personal Bests every week is more fun than I could ever put into words, and the challenges and variety of it all make it easy to look forward to the next workout.
Anyone, any skill level, anything you want to achieve physically should start with CrossFit Quantum. These trainers are phenomenal, they listen, they’ve got great attitudes, and they definitely put their time into their craft. I wish I had found this years ago but can’t wait to see how far I can take this.
Jolie:From bad genes to skinny jeans
I grew up with the notion that getting Diabetes Type 2 would be an eventuality. Everyone and I mean everyone on both sides of my mom side of the family has it or has died from it and its complications. We ate according to the standard American diet. Weight issues didn’t start popping up until my Aunts started having babies. And well they were over weight because having babies = getting fat. Or so the excuse goes.
Once I was old enough to go to the doctor for myself and get my blood work done on a regular basis there would ALWAYS be something wrong. At the beginning it was always having to be retested for my blood sugars. The markers were always high. So I would have to go back and do the test that eats up half your day. Then once I was a bit older that was still a concern but then my thyroid became an issue. As well as depression. So at any given time I would be on some sort of medication. I found LA Weight Loss and joined. At this point I was weighted and dumbfounded. I did not know I had gained that much. The girl who weighted me told me I was “LUCKY” , because I was one of those people who was able to hide the actual weight that was being carried.
LUCKY ME!! NOT.
Well as you can guess that did not work and was a waste of money. Then something changed. Not sure what it was but I ended up joining a gym by my house. Just a small little place. I did pilates once a week and did ciruit training 1 day a week as well. Then KC joined Crossfit. I went in with him to “Check it out”. Leah was the one who met us. KC did all the talking and got his questions answered. Then Leah turned to me and said “WHAT ABOUT YOU?”. I almost peed my pants. I was overwhelmed and a bit intimidated by Lady G.
KC had been getting the food talk by Peter and Leah. They told him about a challenge that was happening and he should join. So KC told me about it because I am the one who does the cooking. Sounded interesting. So I went. Summer worked her magic. I agreed to do the challenge but unofficially. Meaning no one was going to measure me. (REGRET) I ended up joining the gym in May of that year. By the time the new year had come along I had gone from a size 14 pant to a size 8. Along came another challenge. I came in second place and went down to size 6 in my pants.
Having gone Paleo and joining Crossfit has changed my life in only positive ways that are measureable and ways that are unmeasureable. This past spring I had my annual check up and for the 1st time in my life my blood work came back CLEAR!! No problems, no wacky numbers!!! WHOO WHOO!!! I attribute this to being Paleo and doing Crossfit.
So Thank You goes to Summer for all the information and continual guidance and to my trainers, Peter and Leah! Thank You for changing my life!!
